For too many years our region has lost opportunities to develop our waterfront to its highest and best use. Relocation of the Port will allow our lakefront to become one of the most exciting investment opportunities anywhere in the nation…creating thousands of new jobs and linking people with the water.
There is much to be accomplished.
The move of the port can:
- Better position our manufacturing sector to benefit from global trade.
- Pave the way for more shipments to and from foreign countries, translating directly into more jobs.
- Develop an international trade district, bringing more strength to economic development.
- Provide access to containerized cargo. The Port of Cleveland can be the first port on the Great Lakes to open up this line of business. Other port cities around the world and on US coasts have been reaping the benefits of containerized cargo for years.
- Enhance the community with new fishing piers, marinas, parks and open spaces.
