Port of Cleveland, Cleveland Port Authority, More to Do page

Cleveland is one of the busiest Great Lakes cargo ports – and a critical asset supporting our manufacturing base. Cleveland is the industrial connection to Europe and other places. Now, with economies growing in places such as Europe, India and Southeast Asia, we can strengthen our position nationally and internationally.

the port is committed to developing its new facilities in an enviromentally friendly manner - raising the bar for ports everywhere.Title: There is much we need to do
  • Coastal ports are going to be past capacity. This creates an opportunity for us to relieve coastal ports and bring some of that coastal business here…to our coast.
  • We need to position our region to complete globally. Easy, inexpensive access to materials manufacturers need helps accomplish this.
  • We need new jobs. An international trade district paves the way for businesses to come here that would benefit from close proximity to a port.
  • The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers needs a contained disposal facility for dredgings in order to keep the shipping and boating channels open. A new site would be built on these dredgings.
  • Free up the current site just west of Browns Stadium to provide more community access to the lake.
